Friday December 6th

 Happy Friday!  

Feeling so much better today....here is the plan:

Period 1 - Read aloud (we're almost finished Wild Robot...so good) -student choice to read or write with a friend.

Period 2 -I'm hoping to get the chromebooks and we can finish working on our Joke presentations.

Period 3 we'll stay outside for a little extra time then come in and do a bit of work on pictographs. 

Period 4 is Music with Mrs. Haynes.

Period 5 is more math...I will quickly talk to the class about mean and mode and show them how to figure out the mean using a calculator.   We have a bit of work to do.

Period 6 I have just a couple of easy questions on math prodigy about mean, mode and pictographs...the rest of the time will be theirs

Thursday December 5th

I was away yesterday trying to recover...I"ve got the sore throat and cough I think half our school has.

Here is the plan for today:

Period 1 -Red light, Read aloud, reader's workshop - focused on juggling all 3 balls (reading, listening, thanking).

Period 2 was writer's workshop...we continued to work on our 'joke slideshows'. 

Period 3 was social studies for the 2's in Raspopov and Smeaton's room....Grade 3's tried their civil engineering skills to build the strongest paper bridge.

Period 4 we'll head outside for some extra outside time.

Period 5 is computer buddies and period 6 is gym with Mr. D.

Tuesday December 3rd

 Here is the plan for today:

Period 1 -red light, read aloud, phonics lesson on the ending spelling patterns e.g.,  -tch/-ch/-dge/-j 

Period 2 is French with Mr. Woolley.

Period 3 and 4 is math we'll look at what a carroll diagram is and how they can be used to sort data.  We'll do some work and play these games to reinforce the lesson:

Period 5 and 6 is Science.  The Grade 2's will head to Smeaton/Raspopov and the Grade 3's will stay here.  We'll be looking at forces acting on structures and hopefully have some time to try building strong bridges online on this website:

Monday December 2nd

 Happy December!

Just a friendly reminder to send your kids in with boots and indoor shoes!

Period 1 -Red light, read aloud, weekend round up and seating swap!

Period 2 -student choice to read or write.

Period 3 is Music with Mrs. Haynes.

Period 4 is math.  We'll start our next unit in math on Data Management. I have some prodigy questions and a blooket set up to introduce this unit.

Period 5 we'll have a little 'mindfulness time'.

Period 6 we'll head to the library for book exchange...

Thursday November 28th

 Here is the plan for today:

Period 1 - Red light, read aloud, reader's workshop - mini lesson on 'thinking while you're reading'.   We'll also head to the book fair to make our purchases...is we're buying anything.

Period 2 -I'm hoping to continue with our 'joke' slideshow...focusing on presentation strategies.

Period 3 and 4 we'll hopefully get some outside time...we'll continue to focus on making change with different money amounts in math.

Period 5 is computer buddies 

Period 6 is gym with Mr. D.

Wednesday November 27th

 Here is the plan for today:

Period 1 -Red light, read aloud, phonics lesson on open/closed syllables

Period 2 -We'll write a squiggly story and hopefully see some presentations.  We'll start working a little more on our presentation skills.

Period 3 and 4 we'll do so more work counting money and making change.  Hopefully we'll get outside for a bit and maybe even use the computers for some prodigy.

Period 5 Mr. D has them for Health.

Period 6 is desk clean out and maybe some free time (unplugged)

Tuesday November 26th

 Here is the plan for today:

Period 1 -Red light, read aloud, Squiggle Story.

Period 2 -French with Mr. Woolley.

Period 3 and 4 -we'll stay outside for a little extra recess then come in and do Math.  Still continuing to calculate change by counting up...

Period 5 and 6 is Science.  Grade 2's to Raspopov/Smeaton -Grade 3's stay here.  We'll continue to look how force cause movement, we'll look at forces in everyday life today.
