Wednesday March 11th

Here is the plan for today:

Period 1-Red light, read aloud, reader's workshop: focus in on alliterations.

Period 2 - Writer's workshop - try our good copy 'shape poems'.

Period 3 - More area and Perimeter Math, plus 6 questions on Knowledgehook.

Period 4 - Music

Period 5 and 6 is art/social studies.  We'll compare a job for us today (as kids) to a job for us from 1800.  After that we'll use some leftover 'squares' to make 'quilts' on paper...with the focus being on symmetry.

First of all...let me tell you, the 3 sisters, 3D sculptures we made yesterday for art turned out awesome:

Period 2 - I should be back, we'll do some 'shape poems' for writer's workshop.  The kids will draw a picture of something (e.g. snake) then write a sentence or two on the outline of that shape...(e.g., The green snake SLITHERS through the TALL grass CLICKING it's tongue as the ladybugs go PRANCING past. ).  We'll focus on the descriptive and sensory language.

Period 3 is math.  We'll continue working on Area.

Period 4 is Music.

Period 5 is computer buddies.  We'll be working on Venn Diagrams with our buddies using Google Drawing.
