Monday October 19th

 Here is the plan for today:

Period 1 -Red light, read aloud, weekend round up

Period 2 - We'll share some of our 'silly sentences' from Friday.  Then the students will read or write..their choice.

Period 3 and 4 is math.  We'll try asking our own question to classmates...recording their results and putting it into a pictograph.  Once finished, we'll see if we can than make our pictographs on Google Drawing.  

Period 5 is Mindfullness.  We'll do a little sensory mindfullness detective work (5 things you can see, 4 things you can hear....etc...paying close attention to the little details).

Period 6 is gym

Friday October 16th

Here is the plan for today:

Period 1 -Red light, read aloud, reader's workshop: focus again on using online reading tools.

Period 2 - Writer's workshop: we'll do a fun little partner writing activity where we make up silly sentences...one partner in charge of the noun and the other in charge of the verb.

Period 3 and 4 is math.  We'll continue working on Pictographs.  Reading them and Creating them.  We'll play a couple of game shows on Knowledgehook and then they'll do some independent work.

Period 5 is gym with Mr. D.

Period 6 seems like a good period to relax with a little wayside and colouring/mindfullness as we roll into the weekend.

Wednesday October 14th

 Another whacky switch day...even though it's Wednesday, we'll follow a Friday Schedule.

Period 1 - Red light, read aloud, reader's workshop - staying engaged in our reading by using stickies.

Period 2 -Writer's workshop.  Today we'll be using Google drive to set up 'writing folders' and sharing that folder with me...I'm also hoping to show them about the red squiggly line and how to self correct. 

Period 3 is math.  We've pretty much mastered organizing data into Carroll and Venn Diagrams.  Today we'll look at Tally marks, and frequency tables and the difference between quantitative and qualitative data.  

Period 4 we'll play a gameshow on Knowledgehook and practice those skills.

Period 5 is gym (Friday Schedule).

Period 6 hopefully we can do the Norval Morrisseau art from last week we never got to!

Tuesday October 13th

 I hope everyone had a relaxing long weekend.  I spent most of mine recovering from my cold...happy to say I'm on the mend!

Here is the plan for today...which is a switch day (which I forgot)....Monday Schedule

Period 1 -Red light, read aloud, weekend round Up.

Period 2 -reader's/writer's workshop -continue to focus on being engaged reader's and or writers.

Period 3 and 4 is math. We'll review our Carroll and Venn diagrams.  Looking at the differences between the 2.  

Period 4 is Knowledgehook questions (6) all about those ways to sort data.

Period 5 we'll do a little bit of science...or maybe just mindfulness/free time...we'll see what kind of shape we're in. 

Period 6 is Gym with Mr. D. 

NOTE:  tomorrow is a 'Friday Schedule/switch day'. 

Wednesday October 7th

 Here is the plan for today:

Period 1 - Red light, read aloud. Reader's workshop:  focus on yesterday keeping ourselves engaged in our reading!

Period 2 -Writer's workshop:  We'll discuss why writers write.  This is an attempt to keep us engaged.  

Period 3 is math.  We'll do a little review from yesterday on 'Venn Diagrams and Carroll grids' to sort data.

Period 4 is Music with Mrs. Haynes.

Period 5 and 6 is Library and Art.  We'll do a book exchange, then come back to class and look at the indigenous artist: Norval Morrisseau. We'll attempt to use pastels to create artwork in his style.

Tuesday October 6th

 Here is the plan for today:

Period 1 - Redlight, read aloud, class discussion about making everyone feel like they belong.  

Period 2 -French with Mr. Woolley.

Period 3 and 4 is math.  We're going to move on from Place Value and start looking at Data Management.  Today we'll look at ways we can sort data...using Carroll grids and Venn Diagrams.  I've got some work plus a few questions on Knowledgehook.

Period 5 and 6 is science.  We'll review the parts of a plant and their function.  Then we'll look at the life cycle of a plant.  We'll even try a small little experiment with lima beans. 

Monday October 5th

 Here is the plan for today:

Period 1 - Red light (we'll make my daughter birthday cards for fun).  Then we'll do our weekend round up and read aloud.

Period 2 - Is student choice, they can read, or write, or both.  

Period 3 and 4 is Math.  We'll do a little 'show me what you know so far' work.  After they complete the worksheet. I've got some missions set up on Knowledgehook.

Period 5 is a little mindfulness, calming our bodies then - free time

Period 6 is gym with Mr. D.
