Friday June 23rd

 I think this might be the last post of the year...next week will be a little chaotic...as the last week of the school year always is.  

Period 1 is Music with Mrs. Haynes.

Period 2 is Reader's/Writers workshop - student choice.

Period 3 we'll do some social studies, we'll look at who the Metis people are.

Period 4 we head to the library for the summer reading book exchange.

Period 5 and 6 we'll cruise into the weekend with the 2nd movie in the Rats of Nimh series.  

Have a great weekend...remember, Monday is our trip to LaSalle park...rain or shine! (Hopefully more shine than rain)

Thursday June 23rd

 Here is the plan for today...

Period 1 - Reader's workshop.  We'll read some 'hockey songs' and perform them.

Period 2 is Writer's workshop.  We'll work on our media poster projects, using techniques and conventions advertisers use (colour, big fonts, fun pictures, etc...)

Period 3 we'll do some 'mixed operations' math honing our +,-,x, /.

Period 4 Mr. D has them for health.

Period 5 and 6 is Art, we'll work on bubble art...getting ourselves ready to float on to the next year.

Wednesday June 21st

 Here is the plan for today:

Period 1 -desk clean out and share some hockey songs.

Period 2 -we'll try some english prodigy to work on capitals, commas and plurals.

Period 3 is French with Madam O' Neil.

Period 4 we'll do a blooket on the Rats of Nimh, book and movie.

Period 5 is 'computer buddies'.  We'll help our buddies code their own dance parties.

Period 6 we'll flake out to some free time!

Tuesday June 20th

 Here is the plan for today. 

Period 1 -Reader's workshop.  We'll listen to a Cree Elder read 'Honoring the Buffalo and talk about the importance of the Buffalo to the Cree people.

Period 2 is Writer's workshop.  We'll share some Choose your own adventures stories and some hockey songs.

Period 3 and 4 we'll do some math.  We'll look at finding the variables using multiplication and division.

Period 5 is Mr. D for gym.

Period 6 we'll watch Bill Nye's video on soil and rocks and do some follow up work. 

Monday June 19th

 Here is the plan for today.

Period 1 is read aloud and weekend round up.

Period 2 is reader's/writer's workshop...student choice.

Period 3 we'll do some social studies...exploring the story of the 3 sisters.

Period 4 we'll look at algebra using multiplication and division.

Period 5 is music with Mrs. Haynes. 

Period 6 we'll finish our movie 'Secret of Nimh'. 

Friday June 16th

 Ahh..the day after fun fair...phew.

Here is the plan for today:

Period 1 -Music with Mrs. Haynes.

Period 2 -reader's/writer's workshop -student choice.

Period 3 is social studies.  We'll look at the first nations story of the 3 sisters (corn, squash and beans).

Period 4 is science.  We'll look a little closer at 'soil horizons'.  

Period 5 we'll help Mrs. Smeaton's Grade 2's do some dance party coding...

Period 6 we'll cruise into the weekend with some free time.

Wednesday June 14th

Track yesterday, Swim to survive today...crazy busy!

Here is the plan.

Period 1 -Reader's workshop.  We'll look at character traits and try to group traits as positive/negative.

Period 2 is writer's workshop.  Hopefully finally finish and maybe perform some 'hockey songs' now that the Stanley cup is over.

Period 3 is French.

Period 4-6 we'll finish our last session of 'Swim to Survive' at Aldershot pool.

Tuesday June 13th

 Here is the plan today

Period 1 reader's workshop - we'll look at character traits.

Period 2 writer's workshop -we'll continue to finish up our hockey songs, and CYOA's

Period 3 and 4 is math .  We'll look at algebraic equations with variables  (e.g., A + 7 = 10).

Period 5 is Gym with Mr. D.

Period 6 we'll look at rocks and soils with Bill Nye.

Monday June 12th

 Happy Rainy Monday!

Here is the plan for today.

Period 1 (maybe 2?) is a diversity assembly.  

Period 2 will be reader's/writer's workshop -student choice.

Period 3 and 4 we'll work on some coding on Code.org.  Either finish our 'sprite lab' work or begin work on a 'dance party'.

Period 5 is music with Mrs. Haynes. 

Period 6 we'll look at 'soil horizons'.   The different layers of soil (from top soil to bedrock).

Friday June 9th

 Happy Rainy Friday!

Here is the plan for today:

Period 1 -music with Mrs. Haynes.

Period 2 -read aloud -reader's/writer's workshop.  Hopefully finish up any unfinished writing (CYOA, Hockey Song).

Period 3 we'll work on our father's day cards.

Period 4 we'll look at soil horizons (the different layers of soil).

Period 5 we'll work on our media literacy unit. We'll use some conventions and techniques to make our own posters.

Period 6 I'm leaving open for 'finish up' / unplugged time.

Thursday June 8th

 Last day of EQAO!

Here is the plan today:

Period 1 and 2 -we'll do our last 2 sections of Math EQAO then we're done!!!

Period 3 we'll finish up talking about Media conventions and techniques.

Period 4 is Health with Mr. D.

Period 5 and 6 we'll work on our Father's Day cards.

Wednesday June 7th

Crazy day today.

EQAO periods 1-2.

Music period 3.

Swim to Survive periods 4-6.

I'll bring a box of masks to the pool with me...for any of the kids that would like one.

Friday June 2nd

 Friday!!!  Woo Hoo!

Here is the plan for today: 

Period 1 -music with Mrs. Haynes.

Period 2 -Reader's/Writer's workshop..hopefully share a few CYOA stories and maybe even sing some original versions of the Hockey Song.

Period 3 and 4 is math.  We'll continue plugging away on EQAO-like questions.

Period 5 and 6 is Science.  We'll look at 'Soil Horizons'.  After that we might have a little free time before we roll into the weekend.

Thursday June 1st

 I can't believe it's June already!

Here is the plan for today:

Period 1-Read aloud, and Reader's workshop.  We'll continue to look at figurative language, more specifically Similes and metaphors.  

Period 2 is writer's workshop.  Hopefully finish up our Hockey Songs and Choose your own adventures.

Period 3 is math.  We'll play some solo 'blooket' and work on some EQAO-like questions 

Period 4 is Health with Mr. D.

Period 5 and 6 is art.  I'm hoping to go outside and see if we can do some 'painting' with soils...and at some point, we'll try to finish up the Long Jump try outs.
