Last Day, last post!

I just want to take a minute to thank everyone for the wonderful gifts.  I can't believe how lucky I am.  Your children are wonderful, this truly is a special class, that I will never forget.

It was my absolute pleasure to teach this class.

I hope everyone gets a chance to relax this summer.

Stay safe.

I'll miss you.

June 27th...

Hard to believe there is only like 2 and half more days of school.

Today's been great so far.

Period 1 & 2 we made birthday cards for our last summer birthday, Kyle.  Then we had the computers and we used Flipgrid to film our final goodbyes for Mrs. Perks.  After that, the kids had a bit of free time on the computers.

Period 3 we explored different manipulatives and created our own games in math...some with pentominos and some with miras.
Period 4 Mrs. Smith is doing Pioneer presentations.

Period 5 Mrs. Djonovich is teaching her final music lesson....it involves buckets and drum sticks.
Period 6 we'll watch our final episode of Read All About It, The Showdown.

***Report Cards are coming home tonight***

June 25th

Here is a super quick summary of our day...

Period 1 and 2 we made birthday cards for Marcus...then we shared our weekends for our last WEEKEND ROUND UP.  After we did the 'walking song' we had a nice chunk of time to do some reader's/writer's workshop.

Period 3 we had a presentation by the Burlington Public Library.
Period 4 Mrs. Smith is finishing their Pioneer presentations.

Period 5 we have the computers....I'm considering giving the kids some 'free time' on the computer...with a focus on responsibility.  I'll be hammering home my '...if you have to ask whether it's appropriate or not, it's not' catch phrase.

Period 6 we'll watch my favourite episode of Read All About It - Planet of Maze -Chapter 18 - only 2 more left!

Good News/ Sad News

Good News / Sad News….

Hey everyone...I just wanted to pass along a little good news/sad news.  A letter is going home tonight letting the community know that some OP staff will not be returning next year.  Including Mrs. Perks, who is retiring after this year, and myself.

Mrs. Perks is an amazing EA who has a wonderful connection with all the kids in our class.  We’re so lucky to have her and wish her the best in her retirement.

I’m planning on telling the class myself this morning, before the letter goes home...I just wanted to give the parents that read the blog the ‘heads up’.

I’ve taken a position at Glenview Public School.  While I am going to be incredibly sad to say goodbye to the staff, students and families here at Orchard Park, I am excited to be working a little closer to my home.

I just wanted to thank you for raising such terrific kids.  I am really, really, going to miss them (like lots).

Thanks again for everything,

Adam

P.S. I’m away this afternoon to attend my son’s Kindergarten Celebration...see you next week!

June 21st

We've had a great day so far.

Period 1 we made some birthday cards for some of our friends that have birthdays over the summer.  Then we walked a few laps around the field for 'Walk Across Canada'.

Period 2 we did a mad lib as a class about Lily and Mittens.

Period 3 we played a really fun game called 'zone soccer' in gym class.

Period 4 we had more time to write and share our own mad libs.

Period 5 Mrs. Smith is teaching some social studies.

Period 6 we'll catch up on chapter 16 of Read All About It and do some comprehension questions.

Tonight is the Panther Party to celebrate the end of the year.  Parent council wanted us to remind everyone that cash is best...and many of the 'events and food' only accept cash.

I'll also end today's post with an apology...I'm not too sure how many 'posts' I'll get out next week.  The last week of school is usually very busy, but I will try my best.

June 20th

Period 3 we'll probably do a quick game of SKUNK, before we head to the pool.
Period 4 is our last Swim To Survive lesson.

Period 5 Mrs. Djonovich will teach as much music as she can (because we usually get back a little later)
Period 6 I'll give the kids some time to eat and we'll watch chapter 17 of Read All About It.

Reminder - tomorrow night is the big end of the year celebration put on by the parent council!

Period 4 Mrs Smith is teaching science.

Period 5 we have the computers, and we'll be looking at one of my favourite games, Yahtzee.
Period 6 After being trapped indoors for both breaks, I think a little free time is in order at the end of the day.

Some reminders:
-Tomorrow, is 'Active Panther Day' - dress appropriately for outdoor play.
-Wednesday is our LAST Swim to Survive day- dress appropriately for swimming
-Thursday night is the Orchard Park End of Year celebration put on by the Parent Council!

JUNE 8th RBG

We had an amazing time at the RBG learning all about plants and soils.

We did many 'bug checks' throughout the day....but you might just want to do an extra check at home too!  In case we missed any creepy-crawlers.

See you Monday.

June 6th

Talk about strange....I'm typing this as I'm watching your children swim!  It's very entertaining...everyone has been put into a group based upon their ability...and EVERYONE is smiling.

Here's what today looks like (hopefully)

June 5th

Unfortunately, I am not at school today...but I just wanted to post a reminder.

Tomorrow is our first Swim to Survive..we leave around 12:15.

Please make sure you bring a bathing suit, towel and a change of clothes tomorrow...having all your swim gear in a separate bag works really well...as we're only at the pool for an hour or so.  Easy to transport.

Field Trip to RBG on Friday too!
