Wednesday April 30th

 Here is the plan for today:

Period 1 -Red light, read aloud, reader's workshop: thinking about why characters do what they do

Period 2 -writer's workshop- what is a paragraph and how do we write one?

Period 3 -Helping out in the Glenview Garden

Period 4 -Math - we'll be playing a little 'time bingo'.

Period 5 -Health with Mr. D.

Period 6 - A creative art lesson...animals in disguise

Tuesday April 29th

 Here is the plan for today:

Period 1 -Red light, read aloud, Phonics lesson reviewing vowel teams.

Period 2 -French.

Period 3 - Math - I have a time scavenger hunt set up around the school

Period 4 - Once/If they're done the scavenger hunt, I'll have questions on Math prodigy.

Period 5 and 6 -Grade 2's to Smeaton/Raspopov and the Grade 3's stay here to do some EQAO practice...looking specifically at the writing component.  Then we'll look at the life cycle of plants.

Monday April 28th

Happy Monday!

Here is the plan for today:
Period 1 - Red light, read aloud, weekend Round Up.
Period 2 -Reader's/Writer's workshop -student choice.

Period 3 is Music with Mrs. Haynes.
Period 4 is outside time...it's too beautiful today to stay inside.

Period 5 -Math - We've mastered telling time to the hour...now we're going to explore that minute hand.
Period 6 is Library/computers....answering some time questions on Prodigy.

Friday April 25th

 Here is what we've done (and what we're going to do) today:

Period 1 -Red light, read aloud, and we did a quick time lesson...telling time just to the hour.

Period 2 -We had an awesome STEM challenge...kids worked hard in groups of 3 to build the longest paper chain they could.  https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1QJURXg9zY5qWZOf4tgwv0-o7acJSJKR_?usp=sharing

Period 3 -Mrs. Haynes has them for music.

Period 4 - My old friend from when I taught in the behaviour class, former EA, Peter Hummel, is coming into the class to teach us how to use the 'tinkercad' website/software.  The goal today is to get the kids comfortable using the program and hopefully they'll be able to design their own keychain with their names on it.  Peter has offered to 3D print them at his house on his printer.

Period 5 and 6 we'll probably be continuing to work on Tinkercad.  If we're able to finish up early, the kids might get a bit of free time.  This is all new to me, so I'm not sure how much time to budget.

Thursday April 24th

 I am sure my faithful reader noticed I wasn't here yesterday....but I am back today.


Here is the plan:

Period 1 -Reader's workshop - focusing on synthesizing.....and how our thinking grows. 

Period 2 Writer's workshop - we'll continue to work on adding descriptive details.

Period 3 is Science for the Grade 2's to Smeaton/Raspopov....Grade 3's to stay here and we'll look a little deeper into EQAO...and what makes a good answer....

Period 4 we'll head outside on this beautiful day.  The Grade 2's will cheer on their Grade 3 friends while we practice for relays.

Period 5 is computer buddies.  We'll have fun sharing our digital pop art and hopefully get some class dojo time in.

Period 6 is gym with Mr. D.

 Here is the plan for today

Period 1 -Red light, read aloud, weekend round up

Period 2 French

Period 3 -Earth Day clean up

Period 4 -Math...learning to tell the time.

Period 5 and 6 -Grade 2's to Smeaton/Raspopov, Grade 3's to learn about the parts of a plant, and we'll go outside to start the Relay tryouts.

Thursday April 17th

 Here is the plan for today:

Period 1 -Red light, read aloud, reader's workshop- focus on 'how our thinking changes while we read' -(synthesizing). 

Period 2 -Writer's workshop - I'm hoping to continue to use our SWBST organizers to help us write 'meatier' stories.

Period  3 -Grade 2's to Smeaton/Raspopov for science. Grade 3's will stay here for some cursive m and n's...then we'll look at the parts of a plant (flower, stem, leaf, root, seed and flower)

Period 4 we'll head outside for some fresh air.  Maybe do a fun little art activity I stole from Mr. Butt.

Period 5 is Computer buddies...we're going to do some 'digital pop art' with our buddies.  It should be fun.
