Hi Grade 3 Parents!
Good work finding my blog! Feel free to bookmark it for easy access.
I see a few familiar names on my class list this year, which is always nice.
This will be my 22nd year of teaching, and over the years I’ve taught just about every grade and split grade you can think of. I even spent a couple of years in a Behaviour class for Grades 6–8. Most of my career, though, including the past 8 years here at Glenview, has been spent teaching Grade 3. So, it’s safe to say this isn’t my first rodeo.
A little about me: I have two kids of my own. My son is starting Grade 7, and my daughter will be entering Grade 9 at Aldershot High School this year. My wife is also a teacher (Grade 1) with the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board.
In our classroom, my top priority is that every student feels safe, cared for, and excited to come to school. Above all, I want kids to love learning.
And if your kids are anything like mine, I imagine your dinner conversations sound a little like this:
Parent: How was school today?
Child: Fine.
Parent: What did you do?
Child: (shrugs) I don’t know. Nothing really.
Parent: Really? You did nothing all day?
Child: I don’t remember.
That’s where this blog might come in handy! I’ll share updates here so you’ll have a few talking points to work with at the dinner table.
If you ever have questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to email me at crossa@hdsb.ca
I’m looking forward to a great year together!
Adam Cross
