Thursday November 28th

 Here is the plan for today:

Period 1 - Red light, read aloud, reader's workshop - mini lesson on 'thinking while you're reading'.   We'll also head to the book fair to make our purchases...is we're buying anything.

Period 2 -I'm hoping to continue with our 'joke' slideshow...focusing on presentation strategies.

Period 3 and 4 we'll hopefully get some outside time...we'll continue to focus on making change with different money amounts in math.

Period 5 is computer buddies 

Period 6 is gym with Mr. D.

Wednesday November 27th

 Here is the plan for today:

Period 1 -Red light, read aloud, phonics lesson on open/closed syllables

Period 2 -We'll write a squiggly story and hopefully see some presentations.  We'll start working a little more on our presentation skills.

Period 3 and 4 we'll do so more work counting money and making change.  Hopefully we'll get outside for a bit and maybe even use the computers for some prodigy.

Period 5 Mr. D has them for Health.

Period 6 is desk clean out and maybe some free time (unplugged)

Tuesday November 26th

 Here is the plan for today:

Period 1 -Red light, read aloud, Squiggle Story.

Period 2 -French with Mr. Woolley.

Period 3 and 4 -we'll stay outside for a little extra recess then come in and do Math.  Still continuing to calculate change by counting up...

Period 5 and 6 is Science.  Grade 2's to Raspopov/Smeaton -Grade 3's stay here.  We'll continue to look how force cause movement, we'll look at forces in everyday life today.

Monday November 25th

 Here is the plan for today:

Period 1 -Red light, Read aloud, Weekend Round Up

Period 2 we'll do a short activity on different perspectives (1st and 3rd person). The rest of the time will be the students to read or write with a friend.

Period 3 is Music with Mrs. Haynes.

Period 4 is Math...continuing on with counting money.

Period 5 we'll go outside for a bit, come back in and do some unplugged free time.

Period 6 is 'library'...but the library is closed for the book fair.  But we'll head to the book fair to do our 'preview'.  We will have our chance to 'shop' on Thursday morning. 

Friday November 22nd

The Friday plan:

Period 1 Red light, read aloud and phonics lesson on closed/closed syllables.

Period 2 We had a couple of slide show presentations, and had some time to work on the chromebooks....making new slideshows or finishing up old ones. 

Period 3 was math.  We did a class-wide blooket and some more money questions on prodigy.   I recommend practicing with this website at home if your child is sort of struggling with counting up money: Make Change Game — Online practice for grades 1-3

Period 4 is Music...I believe the class won some sort of reward for being so awesome (not surprised)...so they're outisde.

Period 5 and 6 is art.  We'll finish water colouring our aquariums and hopefully get my daughter to help us create some cool 'pop-art' also using the water colours!

Thursday November 21st

 Here is the plan for today....

Hoping the weather holds up for our Grade 2 Friends headed to Safety Village today.

Period 1 -Red light, read aloud, Reader's workshop.  Mini lesson all about getting the 'main idea'.

Period 2 -we'll continue writing on our slideshows...hopefully a few kids will be ready to present.

Period 3 -we'll have our Grade 2's back, and everyone will have science.  The Grade 2's to Raspopov/Smeaton...the 3's will stay here to finish their 'forces' experiment.

Period 4 is Math...we'll continue practicing counting change up to a dollar.

Wednesday November 20th

 Here is the plan for today:

Period 1 -Red light, read aloud and a phonics lesson on compound words.

Period 2- Squiggly stories and working on our slideshows.

Period 3 and 4 was math.  We're working on making change for purchases up to $200.  There is a Blooket on Google classroom to practise. 

Period 5 is Health with Mr. D.

Period 6 we'll watch more of Nemo and finishing colouring in Crayon our aquariums...getting ready to paint.

Tuesday November 19th

 Here is the plan for today:

Period 1 -Red light, Read aloud and a phonics lesson on open and closed syllables.

Period 2 -French with Mr. Woolley

Period 3 -outside before the rain. 

Period 4 -We had a 25 question Blooket all about counting money...they did amazing!  Then they had some time to play on Prodigy (more money questions).

Period 5 and 6 is science.  Grade 2's to Mrs. Raspopov/Smeaton's room.  Grade 3's stay here to learn more about forces causing movement.  We'll be conducting our own experiments...we'll probably have to do one as a class first...then do our own

Monday November 18th

 Here is the plan for today:

Period 1 -Red light, read aloud, weekend round up.

Period 2 -Continue to work on All About Me Slideshows.

Period 3 -Music with Mrs. Haynes

Period 4 Math -we'll look at converting between cents and dollars...and we'll practice making money amounts.

Period 5 we'll stay outside for a little extra time.  Then when we come in we'll use the chromebooks to do some prodigy.

Period 6 is library/book exchange.

Friday November 15th

Period 1 - Redlight, Read aloud, and a phonics lesson on the -ing ending.

Period 2 -continue to work on our All About Me Slideshows.

Thursday November 14th

My grade 2's that do Science and social studies are away on their field trip today to Safety Village.  They'll be back around 11 am I believe.  Mrs. Raspopov's class will be going next Thursday.

Here is the plan for today.

Period 1 -Read aloud, red light, reader's workshop.  Mini lesson focusing on trying to solve unfamiliar words.

Period 2 -we'll talk about using capitals at the beginning of sentences...something some of us are forgetting to do.

Period 3 and 4 is math.  More money...still working on counting money with both bills and coins.  I am also going to give them some chromebook time to practise playing the subtraction games we'll be showing our buddies during Period 5.

Period 5 is computer buddies with Mrs. Ever's class.  Subtraction fun!

Period 6 is gym with Mr. D.

Wednesday November 13th

 Here is the plan for today:

Period 1 -red light, read aloud, and a lesson lesson on the -ED ending.

Period 2 -squiggle story and some independent reading.

Period 3 and 4 is math.  We'll play a fun game called 'I have, Who has?' and I have some $ worksheets for them to complete.  Any extra time we'll jump on Prodigy.

Period 5 is Health with Mr. D.

Period 6 we'll enjoy a little free time to end the day.

Tuesday November 12th

 Here is the plan for today.

Our Remembrance Day discussion took longer than I had thought, so we'll do the Squiggly Story today Period 1 as well as our red light and read aloud.

Period 2 is French with Mr. Woolley.

Period 3 and 4 is math.  We'll continue working with counting money amounts using bills and coins.  I've posted a couple of Blooket games on google classroom.  I'm hoping we can do some work, then get on the chromebooks to play some games.   Any practise at home counting up money amounts is powerful!

Period 5 and 6 is Science/Social Studies.  The Grade 2's will be with Smeaton/Raspopov and the Grade 3's will stick around here finishing designing their cars.  

Monday November 11th

I just realized I didn't blog on Friday...my apologies.  

Here is the plan for today:

Period 1 -Red light, Read aloud, Weekend Round Up and we'll talk about Remembrance day.

Period 2-I'll read a book called 'A Squiggly Story' and the kids will do a fun writing activity.

Period 3 is music with Mrs. Haynes.

Period 4 is math.  We'll look today at counting money amounts with bills.

Period 5 we'll head outside, then come back in and play some prodigy (more money questions)

Period 6 is library/book exchange.

Thursday November 7th

 Here is the plan for today:

Period 1 and 2 -Mrs. Wilson will be covering me Period 1 and 2 for some in school meetings I have.  She will read a story, do a mini lesson on really staying focused while reading.  Period 2 we'll have the chromebooks to play an Internet Safety game called 'Interland' made by Google.  We'll be showing our buddies this game Period 5, so it will be good for us to practice it first.

Period 3 is social studies.  Grade 2's to Raspopov and Smeaton.  Grade 3's stay here and continue to work on their cars.

Period 4 is math.  We'll do the money scavenger hunt from yesterday that we never got around to. 

Period 5 is Computer buddies (Interland)

Period 6 is gym with Mr. D.

Wednesday November 6th

 Here is the plan for today:

Period 1 -red light, read aloud, mini lesson on words that end with -ES.

Period 2-we'll look at our favourite characters (from books, movies etc...) and we'll come up with adjectives, adverbs, verbs and nouns to describe them...and hopefully begin work on our own characters.

Period 3 I have a scavenger hunt set up around the school. The kids have to find all the different coin pictures and count how much change is there.

Period 4 we'll reenforce that concept playing prodigy.

Period 5 is Health with Mr. D.

Period 6 will be some mindfulness...we'll have some fun and try some 'outside the box' sort of thinking...

Tuesday November 5th

Friday November 1st

 Ahh...the day after Halloween.  

The late nights, the sugar, the wind!  The perfect storm!

I'm going to keep my expectations low today...and try to survive...maybe even have some fun.

Period 1 we're going to do our monthly desk swap (which also winds the kids up).  After that I'm going to attempt to teach a quick lesson on the exceptions to the 'magic e' rule....words like: give, live, have, come, done, love, none and some.

Period 2 I'm going to give them some time to work with a friend, or work alone on reading or writing.

Period 3 we'll review the attributes of 2D shapes.  Hopefully get on the computers for a little.

Period 4 they have Mrs. Haynes.

Period 5 and 6 we'll do a quick little art activity and hopefully cruise into the weekend with some free time.
