Friday May 5th

 Happy Friday!

Here is the plan for today. 

Period 1 - Music with Mrs. Haynes.

Period 2 - Reader's/Writer's workshop - student choice.

Period 3 - Chapter 16 of Read All About It and we'll answer the comprehension questions.

Period 4 -Math -I've got a few different Probability games we'll play as a class:

We usually have rich discussions about theoretical vs. experimental probability.  

Period 5 and 6 is Art.  We're going to practise writing our names in cursive (gulp) and then use symmetry to turn our names into interesting bugs.   Like the lady in this video does: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4kIdlhNl4pQ

Thursday May the 4th (be with you)

 Here is the plan for today:

Period 1 -Read aloud - choose your own adventure.  We'll try to go out for another Relay practise before the rain comes...if it comes.  

Period 2 Writer's workshop. Hoping to rewrite the 3rd verse of the hockey song as a class.  

Period 3 is Math.  We'll do a probability experiment with 2 dice.  

Period 4 is Health with Mr. D.

Period 5 I'd like to graph the data we collected from our probability experiment.

Period 6 we'll look back at our timelines in social studies...and narrow in on life in the 1890's.

Wednesday May 3rd

 I had to leave early yesterday to pick up my sick kid...but I'm back, for now!

Period 1 -reader's workshop.  We'll read another Choose Your Own Adventure and we'll talk about getting help from text features (e.g., diagrams, glossary, photographs)

Period 2 -we'll continue to work on our Choose Your Own Adventure slideshows using the success criteria we developed yesterday.

Period 3 is math, we'll continue on with our probability experiment from yesterday (rock, paper, scissors).

Period 4 is French with Mme. O'Neil.

Period 5 is buddies with Mrs. Ever's class.  We're going to help her class research animals on pebble go and make slideshows (like we made last week).

Period 6 we have the library and hopefully afterward we'll be able to enjoy some free time.

Tuesday May 2nd...

 Yikes Physio this morning...running out of time.

Period 1 -Relay practise and reader's workshop.

Period 2 writer's workshop.  Continue working on our choose your own adventure stories.  We'll come up with success criteria.

Period 3 and 4 is math.  We'll continue on with Probability.  We'll do a 'rock, paper, scissors' experiment. After that we'll use the chromebooks to do some more work on probability (knowledgehook and prodigy).

Period 5 is gym with Mr. D.

Period 6 is Read All About It -episode 15.

Monday May 1st

 Here is the plan for today:

Period 1 -red light (set up for desk swap).  Then we'll make our second last desk swap of the year.  Then we'll do weekend round up.

Period 2 is reader's writer's workshop/ relay practise.

Period 3 we'll try to stay outside for a bit, before the rain comes.

Period 4 we'll play some more 'skunk' and practise drawing isometric cubes.  I also have a Bill Nye probability video.

Period 5 is music with Mrs. Hayes

Period 6 is Read All About It.

Friday April 28th

 Here is the plan for today.

Period 1 is music with Mrs. Haynes.

Period 2 is reader's/writer's workshop.  We'll continue working on our 'Choose Your Own Adventure' stories.

Period 3 we'll start our next unit in Social Studies (life in Canada in during the1890's).  I always like to introduce this unit by having the class place several benchmark events on a timeline (e.g., WW2, dinosaurs ruled the earth, the invention of the iphone etc...).

Period 4 my 'optical illusion' art was a bit of a bust, so we'll try something a little more straight forward today and work on drawing isometric cubes and using isometric dot paper.

Period 5 we'll do some work on the language of probability (likely, unlikely, certain etc...) and I have some math worksheets to do.

Period 6 we'll cruise into the weekend by watching chapter 12 of Read All About It and answer some comprehension questions.

Thursday April 27th

 Here is the plan for today....

Period 1 we'll do another SET game, then reader's workshop.  We'll read another Choose Your Own Adventure.

Period 2 is writer's workshop...we'll continue working on our 'choose your own adventure slideshows'.

Period 3 we'll be outside for a bit before we come in and explore this website:  https://www.foldnfly.com/#/1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-2 -making paper air planes to eventually measure.

Period 4 is Health with Mr. D.

Period 5 and 6 we're to do some art. We're going to look at some optical illusion art. These kind of things...I've been unable to make one...hopefully they can!
