Monday February 12th

 Here is the plan for today:

Period 1: Red light, read aloud, Weekend Round Up.

Period 2: Reader's/Writer's workshop - student choice.

Period 3: Math -we're going to start division....talking about equal groups.   We'll try this work:

Period 4 -because the Grade 1's are celebrating 100's day we had to move French to Period 4 today...with Mrs. Coffin.

Period 5 we'll go to the church for an 'Earth Rangers' Assembly.

Period 6 we'll come back and finish up any unfinished work...maybe even work on our 'Array Cities' a little.  

Friday February 9th

 Here is the plan for today:

Period 1 and 2 is reader's/writer's workshop.  I'm hoping to do a quick mini lesson on understanding points of view, then we'll jump onto english prodigy to answer a few POV questions.  After they're done that, they'll have the rest of the time to read or write with a partner.

Period 3 I'm hoping to continue coding by working on our planning template on google classroom.

Period 4 is Health with Mr. D.

Period 5 and 6 is art.  We'll make some cool 'city skyline arrays' and hopefully get outside for a little bit.

Thursday February 8th

 Here is the plan for today:

Period 1 -red light, read aloud, reader's workshop: we'll focus on using the title to help us understand the problem in stories.

Period 2 -writer's workshop - we'll continue our work form yesterday with the run on sentences and do a worksheet to consolidate our learning.

Period 3 is gym with Mr. D.

Period 4 is math.  I might do a fun array/art activity instead of starting division...I think they'll like this more.

Period 5 is tech buddies...we're going to work with our buddies to make Venn Diagrams.

Period 6 is Library, and we'll continue to work our interactive maps on code.org.

Wednesday February 7th

 I apologize to all of my faithful reader (I feel like their is only one of you out there), I was away yesterday, hence, no blog.

I'm back today and here is the plan:

Period 1-red light, read aloud (Tale of a 4th Grade Nothing) and reader's workshop.  We'll talk about how we can use titles to help us figure out the problem of the story (sometimes).

Period 2 -writer's workshop.  Our lesson will focus on stopping the run-on sentence, like the one I'm currently writing that will continue to go on forever and ever because when you're in Grade 3 sometimes you just don't need to use periods but obviously we all know that you do need periods but sometimes it's hard to tell where to put the periods so we'll talk about that as a class and try to fix up a couple of sample run-on sentences like the one I'm writing right now!

Period 3 and 4 is math.  I'm hoping it's equally as beautiful out today as it was yesterday and we can get outside for some fun.  When we come in I have some more 'array' work to do before we start division.

Period 5 is Mrs. Haynes for music.

Period 6 we'll continue working on coding our interactive maps...or maybe we'll draw our own town maps...depending on chromebook availability.

Monday February 5th

 Here is the plan for today:

Period 1 -Red light, read aloud, Weekend Round Up.

Period 2 -student choice -reader's/writer's workshop.

Period 3 and 4 is math.  We'll play some more 'array games' and hopefully get outside to enjoy the nicer weather.

Period 5 is French with Mrs. Coffin.

Period 6 we'll do a 'snip and sort' jobs in Ontario activity.  I'll give them a list of jobs, and they have to guess which landform region that job would most likely exist (e.g., airport security = great lakes/St. Lawerence lowlands)

Friday February 2nd

Here is the plan for today:

Period 1 and 2 is reader's /writer's workshop.  Student choice.

Period 3 is math...we'll do the array work from yesterday we didn't actually get to.

Period 4 is Health with Mr. D

Thursday February 1st

 Happy February!

Here is the plan for today:

Period 1: Red light, desk swap, read aloud, reader's workshop -we'll focus on our voices matching the feeling

Period 2: writer's workshop: we'll finish re-writing yesterday's piece by varying sentence beginnings...we'll share and reflect on our work

Period 3 is Gym with Mr. D.

Period 4 is math.  We'll play a couple of 'array games' to reenforce our multiplication facts.
