A sad day today. It's Owen's last day at Glenview. We're so sorry to see him go, but wish him luck at his new school in Waterdown.
We're going to make this day as good as we can for Owen.
Period 1 -we had a super challenging math Problem of the Week that we worked hard on. Then we started to read the final chapter of the Secret of Nimh.
Period 2 is French with Mr. Woolley.
Period 3 and 4 I'm hoping to finish our class novel, The Secret of Nimh...then show the kids the movie (a celebration of sorts).
Period 5 we have the chromebooks, we'll use them for reader's/writer's workshop.
Period 6 I've left open for a final circle, and we'll say bye to Owen.

February 27th
Happy Thursday.
Here is the brief plan for today...
Period 1 - Red light (lots of work to finish up). Read aloud then reader's workshop.
Period 2 -writer's workshop...we're going to continue to build on our awesome work from yesterday...where we went slow and really flushed out the details in our writing.
Period 3 is math...we'll play another couple of games of Bizz Buzz...then work on our 3 times tables work from yesterday.
Period 4 Mr. Woolley has them for French.
Period 5 we have the gym again...we're going to look at throwing and catching from various distances.
Period 6 is a little more 'finish up' time (mostly science and math).

Here is the plan for today!
Period 1 - Red light, read aloud and reader's workshop.
Period 2 - Writer's workshop. Mini lesson focusing on going slow and being patient with our writing.
Period 3 is math. We're going to look at our 3 times tables. Listen to a song, play a game and do a worksheet!
Period 4 is Library and technology with Mr. Butt.
Period 5 is gym. We're going work on 'volleying'.
Period 6 I hope to do some science...we'll investigate how a force is just a push or pull (and look at some examples).

Here is what today should look like.
Period 1 - Finish up art from yesterday / read aloud. Reader's workshop - our mini lesson will focus on building fluency by working on some commonly used phrases.
Period 2 - Writer's workshop...and Pancake day, at some point.
Period 3 -Music with Mrs. Haynes.
Period 4 - we're going to continue on with the math from yesterday...working on those 5's and 10's times tables.
Period 5 we have the chrome books. We're going to hopefully finish our Science Title Pages, work on a few math prodigy questions and if there is time they'll explore this website with a ton of fun multiplication games:

Period 6 sometimes we can squeeze an extra computer period out...but if we can't I've left it for finishing up any outstanding work.

Period 4 is math...we're just going to review our times tables that we've learned so far (0, 1, 2, 4, and 8's...sort of). Then we're going to look at our 5's and 10's (which are both pretty easy). Then we'll do a couple of worksheets from this website to reenforce our 5's and 10's:

Period 1 - Red light is finish our math work from yesterday. Read aloud and Reader's/Writer's worksheet.
Period 2 is French with Mr. Woolley.
Period 3 and 4 we're going to start Multiplication (any practise you do at home will only benefit your children). We're going to look at the 1's (easy, anything multiplied by one is the other number), 2's (knowing your doubles) and hopefully we'll get to the 4's (double your doubles). Then we'll try these sheets to build our skills

Period 1 read aloud, weekend round up.
Period 2 reader's/writer's workshop, mini lesson on building fluency by getting your eyes ahead of the words.
Period 3 is music with Mrs. Haynes.
Period 4 is math. We're going to share our area/perimeter work from last week, then I have a worksheet that looks at comparing area and perimeter.
Period 5 we have the computers. We're going to work on google drawing to make title pages for our next unit in Science (Forces Causing Movement)
Period 6 I'm hoping to finally paint those Jim Dine Hearts!

Welcome back...
Here is what today has looked like.
Period 1 we read aloud and shared our really long weekends during 'weekend round up'.
Period 2 we treated as a 'Monday' and the kids could choose to read or write with a friend.
Period 3 was math. We continued our work from last week making shapes with the same area, but different perimeters.
Period 4 is Library/technology with Mr. Butt.
Period 5 we have the gym...we'll be working on some more targeting games.
Period 6 I'm hoping to paint our Jim Dine hearts.
Reminder...Friday is a PD day (and Monday is Family Day). We're going to try to do our last 'Youtube Friday' tomorrow morning instead.
Also, a few parents have asked about the number of kids in the class for 'Valentines Day'...the number is 20!

Period 4 Mr. Butt took the class to an assembly.
Period 5 we played 'chuck the chicken' outside with Mr. D's class.
Period 6 we flaked out to a little 'free time' (while I wrote this).
