Period 6 -depending on the level of motivation (teacher and students...long day, indoor recess both breaks it's looking like)...we'll either start some science....looking at plants...what they need to survive...or maybe just some free time/mindfulness

Monday March 30th

Here is the plan for today:

Period 1 -Red light, Weekend Round Up, Chapter 9 and 10 of the Tale of Despereaux.

Period 2 - Finish our 'secret of you' prologues.  Then read or write, not with a partner this week (last Monday was a bit of a disaster).

Period 3 if it's nice we'll stick around outside for a bit...then come in and look at Fractions of a set...but also equivalent fractions.

Period 4 when we're finished our work, I have a few questions on Math Prodigy...I'll hopefully be conferencing with the kids to see that we're all on the right track.

Period 5 is gym with Mr. D.

Period 6 we'll use the chromebooks to finish up on the math and maybe even some Dojo time...I'll hopefully finish my conferences.

Friday March 26th

Here is the plan for today:

Period 1 - Red light, read aloud, reader's/writer's workshop - work with a friend.

Period 2 - To the library...where we'll do book exchange but also use the chromebooks to record ourselves reading a passage about Mr. Cross.  I've got mild, medium and spicy lined up.  Not sure how this will work, but I'm excited to try.  The kids will record themselves reading a passage on google slides.  Then listen to their reading and then assess themselves using the rubric I've provided.  The goal is to practice fluency and show them the cool recording feature built into google slides.

Period 3 we might stay outside for a bit, then come in to do some fraction work.  Today we'll be looking at fractions on a number line.

Period 4 I have a few questions lined up on Math prodigy that are all about fractions on a number line.

Period 5 is 'earth hour'...we'll turn off the lights, and make 'seed bombs' using recycled paper and some Empress of India seeds I brought in.  Could be messy but fun.

Period 6 is gym with Mr. D.

Thursday March 26th

Here is the plan for today:

Period 1: Red light, read aloud, reader's workshop.  Mini lesson to focus on perspective lens.....we'll look at how Despereaux and his brother Furlough both see the world.  Despereaux is a dreamer and Furlough is a Rule-follower.

Period 2: Writer's workshop.  We're going to polish our 'Stories of (You)'.  Make them even better.

Period 3: we'll stay outside for a bit, then come in and do some math.  I have some more 'drawing fractions' work plus we still need to find some of the hidden 'fractions questions' our co-op student Oliver hid around the school.

Period 4 is Music with Mrs. Haynes.

Period 5 is computer buddies....the plan today is to review games off the PBS website and decide up the 'target age group'.

Period 6 we'll enjoy a bit of finish up/free time.

Wednesday, 25 March 2026

Wednesday March 25th

Here is the plan for today:

Period 1 - Red light, read aloud, reader's workshop.  We'll look specifically at character traits vs character feelings...zeroing in on Despereaux.  The kids will then hopefully look for a trait or feeling from the main character in their books.

Period 2 -Writer's workshop.  Mini lesson is going to lean into Kate DiCamillo's style in The Tale of Despereaux...the kids are going to write their own 'serious' book of 'You'.

Period 3 if it's nice we'll stay outside for a bit.  When we come in we'll work on fractions...trying our best to divide both circles and rectangles into various fractions (it's one thing to identify a fraction...it's another to draw it).

Period 4 Music with Mrs. Haynes (she's back).

Period 5 we'll do a 'fraction scavenger hunt' around the school.

Period 6 we'll do some 'spring chicken art' where we investigate different kinds of lines.

Period 4 -we'll use the chromebooks to practice our fraction skills.

Period 5 -is gym with Mr. D.
