Thursday November 27th

 Here is the plan for today:

Period 1 - Red light, read aloud mini lesson on paying close attention to character's emotions to understand internal traits (Ivan is resilient, being locked in a cage, content to watch tv).

Period 2 is writer's workshop: keep on working on our 'movie poster'.

Period 3 we wont go outside as Mrs. Haynes promised them outside time Period 4.  So we'll stay in and try out the new math website I'm supposed to be using, called knowledge hook.

Period 4 is Music with Mrs. Haynes...I guess she's taking them outside?

Period 5 is our final lesson on 'Living and Working in Ontario'.  We'll talk about 'interdependence'...and how rural communities provide food and raw resources to the other communities, while suburban communities provide the workers and housing for people to live and Urban areas provide major services and big buildings like factories where new things are made)

Period 6, if we have any time left we'll have some free time.

Reminder Book fair is open after school today and all day tomorrow (I think)...Tomorrow is a PD day.

Wednesday November 26th

 Here is the plan or today:

Period 1 - Desk clean out, new read aloud - The One and Only Ivan.

Period 2 -Writer's workshop.  We talked about making a movie poster, specifically for Because of Winn Dixie...we looked at several examples, and we got started on making our own.

Period 3 we'll stick around outside for a bit, but come in and do some more patterning work.

Period 4 is music with Mrs. Haynes.

Period 5 and 6 is Art- we'll be channelling our inner Ivan (from our read aloud) and do some finger painting.  Wish me luck!  Sorry for the mess in advance, but the paint is washable!

Tuesday November 25th

 Here is the plan for this Tuesday:

Period 1 -Red light, then it's our first 'lock down drill'.  We'll have to do a little debrief after our practice, I anticipate that taking most of Period 1.

Period 2 is French with Mr. Woolley.

Period 3 we'll stay outside for a bit, weather permitting. When we come in we'll start the movie, Because of Winn Dixie.

Period 4 We'll continue to the movie.  

Period 5 The movie is an hour and 40 minutes, so we'll finish up during this period.

Period 6 I have an activity planned that connects to the movie...hopefully consolidate the learning!

Monday November 25th

 Here is what we've done today:

Period 1 - Red light, weekend Round up, Read aloud (short story...and then it happened) and a we played game based on Because of Winn-Dixie.

Period 2 we worked on some more chatgpt generated Reader's Theater's Scripts. Lots of laughs, and we're building fluency and expression.

Period 3 we went to the library to help Mrs. Ever's Grade 1's with their book fair wish lists.

Period 4 we went outside to enjoy some extra outside time.  

Period 5 is Gym with Mr. D.

Period 6 is our time to make our own wish lists for the book fair.  I have a patterning game to play afterwards...if there is time.

Friday November 20th

 I was away yesterday, but Mrs. Sylvester was in for me and she told me numerous times how awesome my class was!  Always great to hear.

Here is the plan for today:

Period 1 -Red light, Read aloud, Reader's Writer's workshop- Still doing more quotation mark work.

Period 2 -Library is closed for Book Fair set up...so we'll stay here and have some reading or writing with a partner.

Period 3 is math.  We'll do some repeating patterns work...I have mild and Spicy...hoping to push the kids to try Spicy (more advanced) work.

Period 4 we have the chromebooks for Math prodigy - more patterning work!

Period 5 is Free time -I think they've earned it this week!

Period 6 is Gym with Mr. D.

Wednesday November 19th

 Yikes...I forgot about my post yesterday...sorry!  Life has been busy.  Progress reports went home on Monday...We adopted a 3 legged rescue cat yesterday...my brain isn't working at full power.

Here is what the plan for today is:

Period 1 -Red light, read aloud, class discussion about respect and inclusion.  Reader's workshop on juggling while reading...ask your kids!

Period 2 -Writer's workshop: mini lesson on using quotation marks properly. 

Period 3 we stayed outside most of the period, came in and review repeating patterns.

Period 4 is Music with Mrs. Haynes.

Period 5 I'm going to do some patterning centres hopefully.  Make different repeating patterns with different manipulatives.

Period 6 I have some mindfulness colouring activity we'll try.  

Monday November 17th

 Here is the plan for today:

Period 1- Red light, read aloud, weekend round up.

Period 2 I've got some funny comics we're going to write the speaking parts for.

Period 3 is outside/math - when we come in we'll finish making our bar/picto graphs.

Period 4 is I'm hoping to do some prodigy questions.

Period 5 is gym with Mr. D.

Period 6 is Health, from last week, which we skipped because it turns out Health is the least favourite subject at school (according to Isla and Maddy's survey).
