Wednesday October 9th

 Here is the plan for today:

Period 1-Red light, read aloud, reader's workshop...mini lesson focusing on staying focused during reading.

Period 2 -I have a 'common math task' they've asked all the Grade 2's and 3's to do for our PD day on Friday.  We'll do that...get it out of the way.  The rest of the period they'll have to themselves to write.

Period 3 and 4 is math.  We're going to talk about reading big numbers...and how easy it is!  We'll do some work, play some games and hopefully get on the chromebooks to do some prodigy questions I assigned.

Period 5 is Health with Mr. D.

Period 6 we'll save as a finish up period. 

Tuesday October 8th

 Here is the plan for today...with the mixed up cross country morning.  Half the class will be missing for the first half of the day...so we'll adapt.

Period 1 - I'll read a fun story called My Teacher Is a Monster.  Then we'll have some independent reading  time.  

Period 2 is French with Mr. Woolley.

Period 3 Mr. Butt and Mrs. Benison and I might keep the kids outside for some extra play time.

Period 4 is math.  We'll look at Odds and Evens...and talk about reading numbers.

Period 5 and 6 is Social Studies.  Grade 2's to Smeaton/Raspopov and Grade 3's stay here to do a land use cut and paste sorting activity.

Monday October 7th

 Here is the plan for today.

Period 1 - Red light, Read aloud, Weekend Round Up.

Period 2 -I am hoping to share some of our poems from last week then have the kids choose to read or write.   The focus of today's mini lesson will be to not focus on spelling when writing...get the ideas down and fix the spelling later!

Period 3 is Music with Mrs. Haynes.

Periods 4 -6 I will be doing a reading assessment on my Grade 2's while Mrs. Nalsok from the School Board works with the rest of the class.    A bit of a different day...but we'll still have fun!

Friday October 4th

 Here is the plan for today...it's been a bit of a longer week with the open house, so we'll keep it light and fun!

Period 1-we'll continue working on our short poems...hopefully infuse some personification or similes into them.

Period 2 -student choice...and a chance to work with a partner on reading or writing.

Period 3 is math.  We have a bit of work to do...just finishing up skip counting and odds and evens.

Period 4 is Music with Mrs. Haynes.

Period 5 we'll stay outside for a bit.  We'll come in and finish our Wayside cartoon from yesterday and compare and contrast the book vs. the movie.  

Period 6 I have just a few math questions for them to answer on prodigy...then they'll have a bit of free time.  

Thursday October 3rd

 It was awesome to meet so many of you yesterday...sorry I'm tired today.

Here is the plan:

Period 1 -Red light, Read aloud, Writer's workshop - We'll continue on with our Poems from yesterday that we started...reviewing personification and similes. 

Period 2 -Mr. D is coming in to cover me for a period.  He'll be doing a prediction lesson with the class.

Period 3 is Social Studies...Grade 2's to Smeaton and Raspopov...Grade 3's stay here to finish our municipalities work...maybe begin work on types of land use (e.g., residential, commercial, conservation, etc...)

Period 4 is math.  We'll look at Odd and Even numbers and I have a cool activity for them to do where they list as many of each odd and even numbers as they can.

Period 5 We'll watch episode 1 of Wayside, the cartoon and have a discussion on how it compares to the book.

Period 6 is Gym with Mr. D.

Wednesday October 2nd

 Here is the plan for today:

Period 1 -red light, read aloud, reader's workshop: mini lesson focusing using text clues to infer.

Period 2-writer's workshop: mini lesson focusing on using similes and personification.

Period 3 and 4 is math.  We're continuing to understand numbers to 200 (Gr.2) and 1000 (Gr.3).  We'll do some more ordering and comparing today.  I also have a bit of skip counting to do as well.  If we're lucky we might jump on Prodigy Period 4 to do some similar type questions I've posted.

Period 5 Mr. D has them for Health.

Period 6 we'll be finishing up our tropical sunset watercolour painting...and hopefully finishing up any unfinished work and cleaning up the classroom for tonights Open House.

I'm looking forward to meeting and talking with you tonight!  I'll be working the BBQ before we come into the school...so I will apologize in advance for the smell!

Tuesday October 1st

 Here is what is happening today (hopefully).

Period 1- Red light, Read aloud, DESK SWAP - I change the desks at the first of each month.  We'll talk about the importance of working with new friends and being an inclusive community.

Period 2 -French with Mr. Woolley.

Period 3 and 4 is math.  We have some more 'skip counting' work to do and we'll talk about odds and evens.   Period 4 I'll have some math prodigy questions that have to do with skip counting.

Period 5 and 6 I'm going to some water colour art...and maybe even get outside for a little bit.
