Tuesday April 23rd

 Here is the plan for today:

Period 1 - Mrs. Haynes needed to switch things around, so they'll have music period 1.

Period 2 -we're going to look a little closer at our paragraphs from last week and look at some EQAO examples.

Period 3 and 4 is math.  We'll continue on with our EQAO them by looking at the EQAO practice tests and we'll do some prodigy.  I've selected EQAO Prep for math prodigy. It should help to prepare the students for the type of questions they may encounter.

Period 6 if it's nice we'll go outside and practice for the relay again.

Monday April 22nd

 Here is the plan for today:

Period 1 -red light, read aloud, weekend round up, reader's/writer's workshop

Period 2 -we went outside for the first of our relay practice/try outs.

Period 3 and 4 is math-we'll look at clockwise and counter clockwise rotations (1/4, 1/2 and 3/4 turns).

Then I have worksheet for them to complete.  When finished we'll continue working on our cursive alien art...

Period 5 is French with Mrs. Coffin.

Period 6 we'll head back outside for our earth day clean up. 

Friday April 19th

 Here is plan for today:

Period 1 and 2 is red light, read aloud, reader's/writer's workshop.  I'm hoping the class will be able to type out their paragraphs from yesterday and maybe play a little English Prodigy.

Period 3 is math.  We'll do some co-ordinate geometry work.

Period 4 is gym with Mr. D.

Period 5 and 6 is Art.  I'm hoping to do some cool art work using our names in written in cursive. 

Thursday April 18th

 Here is the plan for today:

Period 1- Red light, read aloud, reader's workshop: mini lesson focus on using just the right word...if you come across a word you don't know...first figure out if it describes something positive or negative...then try to use synonyms to come up with the appropriate word.

Period 2 -Writer's workshop -continue working on our paragraphs from yesterday...would you rather fly high or move fast.

Period 3 gym with Mr. D.

Period 4 math.  We'll look at coordinates on a grid and how to move from one are to the next. (eg., up 4, 3 to the left, quarter turn clockwise).

Period 5 is computer buddies....we'll teach our Grade 1 friends what Dojo Island is all about.

Period 6...assuming the class has a great day we'll enjoy some free time in the library.  Some kids will play on the chromebooks and some kids will beat me at Connect 4.  

Wednesday April 17th

 Yuck...rainy, windy Wednesday!

We'll try to make the best of it.  Here is the plan for today:

Period 1 -Red light, read aloud, reader's workshop...same mini lesson as yesterday (as we were planting radishes first period yesterday).

Period 2 -Writer's workshop: We'll continue exploring paragraph writing.  We'll write paragraphs about whether we would rather be able to fly high, or move fast.  

Period 3 and 4 is math.  We'll finish up our unit on mass and capacity.  I've got a little experiment I'd like them to try.

Period 5 is music with Mrs. Haynes.

Period 6 we'll do the social studies from yesterday (that we also didn't get around to), reading Buffalo Bird Girl and answering questions.  

Tuesday April 16th

 Here is the plan for today:

Period 1 -Red light, read aloud (Holes) and reader's workshop- mini lesson focusing on using clues to infer the meaning of 'tricky words'.

Period 2 - Writer's workshop - We'll look at some previous EQAO paragraph writing questions...we'll do one as a class then they'll do one on their own...just to practice our paragraph writing skills.

Period 3 is lesson 4 of 6 where Wafa the CYC worker comes in to help us recognize and manage anxiety.

Period 4 is math -we'll do a little more capacity/mass work.

Monday April 15th

Here is the plan on this glorious Monday - 

Period 1 -Red light, Read aloud, Weekend Round Up

Period 2 -Reader's / Writer's workshop -student choice.

Period 3 and 4 is Math - Today will be an introduction to Mass and Capacity.  We'll do some work and hopefully answer some questions on Math prodigy.

Period 5 is Music with Mrs. Haynes.

Period 6 we'll finish up our movie from Friday
