Friday October 25th

 Here is the plan for today:

Period 1 -Red light, read aloud (Finish The Tale of Desperaux).  I am also planning on doing a little VCe (Vowel, consonant, 'e') review (the silent E).  

Period 2 I want to do a class wide Blooket on the Tale of Desperaux book.  Then give the kids some time to work on the chromebooks to start our next math unit on 2D shapes.

Period 3 If it's nice outside we'll head outside.

Period 4 is Music with Mrs. Haynes.

Period 5 and 6 we'll cruise into the weekend by watching the movie version of The Tale of Desperaux...which is not nearly as good as the book.

Thursday October 24th

 Here is the plan for today:

Period 1-Red light, read aloud, mini lesson on VCe (or the Long E). 

Period 2 -French with Mr. Woolley.

Period 3 and 4 s math I think our last place value lesson.  We'll do a worksheet, play the place value game and if there is time maybe get in some math prodigy?  Hopefully get outside somewhere in there to enjoy the nice weather.

Period 5 and 6 is social studies.  Grade 2's to Mrs. Raspopov and Smeaton. Grade 3's to stay here we'll review the terms urban, suburban and rural.  We'll also look at the consequences of land use (e.g., demolishing farms to build commercial areas...building a bridge/animal walkway etc...)

Monday October 21st

 Happy Monday everyone! 

Here is the plan for today:

Period 1 -Red light, Read aloud, Weekend round Up.

Period 2 -Student choice Reader's Writer' workshop...they can work with a friend.

Period 3 is music with Mrs. Haynes.

Period 4 is Math -more Place Value...we'll be using Baseten blocks to make our own creation and count up how many Hundreds, Tens and Ones we use.

Period 5 I'm hoping to take the kids outside for a bit.

Period 6 we'll come back in and do book exchange and play a fun game as a class about halloween candy.

Thursday October 17th

 Here is the plan for today:

Period 1 -Red light, read aloud, school flag voting and a lesson on Diagraphs.

Period 2 -Reader's workshop - We'll look at using words we know to help us solve words we don't.  I might try to see if I can get the chromebooks so they can practice logging onto epic books again.

Period 3 is music with Mrs. Haynes.

Period 4 is Math.  More place value games!  We're doing super well with it right now..

Period 5 we can hopefully do the negative/positive space art from yesterday...although I still don't have sound from my computer...we'll figure it out.

Period 6 is library/book exchange (Monday schedule). 

And somewhere in there we'll be interrupted for picture day.

I know we have a few kids sick...we'll get your pictures on the retake day...whenever that is.

Wednesday October 16th

 Here is the plan for today:

Period 1 - Red light, Read aloud, and lesson on Diagraphs.

Period 2 -I will introduce the kids to a website (they can use at home too) called Epic Books.  We'll practise logging in, and exploring the website...it has a massive collection of amazing books.  I'm hoping it will 'hook' some of the reluctant readers.

Period 3 is math.  We'll play the 'Place Value Game' and do some worksheets that use Base Ten Blocks.

Period 4 is Drama / Dance  / Music with Mrs. Haynes

Period 5 and 6 we'll look at negative and positive space and try our hand at making pumpkins that explore both negative and positive space.  

Tuesday October 15th

 Here is the plan for today:

Period 1 -Red light, read aloud, weekend round up, and any extra time we'll have to read independently.

Period 2 -French with Mr. Woolley.

Period 3 and 4 is math.  We'll be playing several place value games and doing some more work on place value.

Period 5 and 6 is social studies.  Grade 2's to Raspopov/Smeaton and Grade 3's stay here to learn about how specific landform regions dictate the kind of jobs available in that region (e.g., farmers work land that is usually flat and fertile = Great lakes St. Lawerence Lowlands).  Hopefully we can begin work researching a community somewhere in Ontario and digging into what kind of community it is (e.g., industrial, commercial, agricultural etc..)

Thursday October 10th

 Here is the plan for today:

Period 1 -Red light, read aloud, reader's workshop.  Mini lesson focusing on keeping our eyes and minds in the book.

Period 2 -writer's workshop...mini lesson is all about directions.   We'll learn about the cardinal directions and how to write directions.  

Period 3 -Social Studies -Grade 2's to Raspopov/Smeaton and the Grade 3's to learn about climate and jobs in the Great Lakes St. Lawerence lowlands.

Period 4 is math...we'll continue reading and writing bigger numbers.

Period 5 is we'll use the chromebooks to begin coding on 'microsoft arcade'.  

Period 6 is Gym with Mr. D.
