Thursday February 29th

 Happy Leap Day!

Here is the plan for today:

Period 1 and 2 -we'll do red light and a read aloud.  After that we'll hopefully work on our whacky newspaper articles we're writing based on our headlines we wrote using the letters of our name.  We'll try working on the chromebooks to complete this task.

Period 3 is gym with Mr. D.

Period 4 we'll look at the Kilometre in math...and we'll talk about how to convert from mm to cm to m to km.

Period 5 we have buddies...we'll help them finish coding their mazes. 

Period 6 is Library and hopefully we'll be able to do some coding on our interactive maps in there.  

Wednesday February 28th

 Here is the plan for today:

Period 1 - We'll talk about Pink Shirt day, what it is and why it's important.  The we'll do reader's workshop.

Period 2 is writer's workshop.  We'll look at the parts of a newspaper article and then try to write our own.

Period 3 and 4 is math.  We'll continue looking at the cm and the m.  We'll do some more work then I'll introduce the mm (millimetre) and we'll look at converting between mm and cm's.  We'll try these games as a class:

Period 5 is Drama/Music with Mrs. Haynes.

Period 6 we'll continue working on coding our own interactive maps.  

Tuesday Februrary 27th

 Here is the plan for today:

Period 1 - Red light, read aloud, reader's workshop...mini lesson focusing on using the 'blurb' to help us choose books.  

Period 2 is Writer's workshop - I'm hoping today, we can begin work on writing our 'fictional news articles' based upon on whacky headlines.  We'll answer the 5 W's in our stories.

Period 3 and 4 is math.  We'll continue on with linear measurement.  We keep looking at the metre and centimetre.  I'm hoping we can get outside before the rain too.

Period 5 I'm hoping we can continue coding our interactive maps.

Period 6 is music with Mrs. Haynes.  

Monday February 26th

 Happy Monday...here is the plan for today:

Period 1 -Red light, read aloud, weekend round up.

Period 2 -Reader's/Writer's workshop - student choice.

Periods 3 and 4 is Math.  We'll start our next unit on linear measurement....today we'll be looking specifically at the centimetre and metre.  

Period 5 is French with Mme. Coffin.

Period 6 I'm hoping to use the chromebooks to work on coding our interactive maps.  

Friday February 23nd

 Happy Friday!

Here is the plan today:

Period 1 and 2 is language.  We'll read a Choose Your Own Adventure book.  I have the chromebooks first thing...I'm hoping to finish our Science from the other day where we investigate a plant and make a poster.  I also want the kids to finish their interactive maps coding templates.  All of this work is posted on Google Classroom.

Period 4 is gym with Mr. D.

Period 5 and 6 we'll spend some extra time outside before we come in and do some 'fingerprint art' creating our own fingerprint characters...should be fun!

Thursday February 22nd

 Alright...Thursday!

Here is the plan:

Period 1 we'll do a little more work on Black History Month.  We'll learn a little about the artist Edward Mitchell Bannister.  Then we'll do 'reader's workshop' and we'll look at how characters reactions can help us discover the problem in a story.

Period 2 is writer's workshop.  I'm really hoping we can finish our wacky headlines so we can actually dive into writing them soon.

Period 3 is Gym with Mr. D.

Period 4 is Math - I've got some more fun division practise/game/colouring work.

Period 5 is computer buddies.  We're going to help our buddies learn to code their very own 'crazy' maze.  

Period 6 we'll head to the library and hopefully finish up some work on the computer.  

Wednesday February 21st

Here is the plan for today...

Period 1:  We'll continue our learning on Black History by diving a little deeper into the Underground Railroad and who Harriet Tubman was.  Then we'll do some independent reading.

Period 2 is Writer's workshop.  We'll continue to work on our fictional headlines.

Period 3 is math.  We'll do some more fun division work...I've got a division colouring sheet and a division word search.

Period 4 is Gym (Friday Schedule today) with Mr. D.

Period 5 and 6 we'll start our next Science unit learning about plants.  We'll use a really great resource from TVO today: https://tvolearn.com/pages/grade-3-science-and-technology-Global-Focus-learning-activity-1 . Hopefully we can get outside and enjoy the nice weather some time during this last block.
