Tuesday April 30th

 What??  Last day of April?  The year is flying by.

Here is the plan for today:

Period 1 -Reader's workshop - We'll talk about how often in non-fiction books the authors will share the definition of difficult words write in their sentences.

Period 2 -Writer's workshop - we'll look closer at the EQAO sample test on line and go through one of the books together.  The big think will be incorporating part of the question into our answers.

Period 3 and 4 is math. We'll look at theoretical probability vs. experimental probability.  I've got some work for them to do.  If it's nice we may go outside for a bit (highly unlikely). https://www.superteacherworksheets.com/probability/probability8-experiment-suits.pdf

Monday May 29th

 Here is the plan for today!

Period 1 -Red light, read aloud, weekend round up.

Period 2 -Reader's/Writer's workshop...student choice.

Period 3 and 4 is math.  We'll do some probability work/experiments.  And we'll also revisit the EQAO website to look at the 2nd math sample.

Period 5 is French with Mrs. Coffin.

Period 6 Ms. O Neil will be covering me while I work with Mrs. Bryce (an itinerant teacher with the school board)

I'm hoping to send information home today about our upcoming 'Swim to Survive' field trip (on blue paper).

Friday April 26th

 Here is the plan for this exciting Friday...

Period 1 -We had a fire drill and practiced evacuation drill (e.g., whole school walked to the church).

Period 2 - I put the class into partners and they had to assess their friends paragraph....giving them a grade and discussing why.

Period 3 -Tech day!

Period 4 -Mr. D for gym/health

Period 5 -Relay practice....then Tech Day.

Period 6 - Tech Day!

Best day ever!

Wednesday April 24th

 Here is the plan for today:

Period 1 -red light, read aloud, reader's workshop: mini lesson focusing on being 'word conscious'...when we encounter new words....

Period 2 is writer's workshop -we'll use the hamburger organizer again to plan a paragraph about whether we rather drive or walk to school.  

Period 3 is math.  We'll start our next unit on probability. We'll mostly just discuss the language of probability (e.g., likely, unlikely, certain and impossible).  

Period 4 we'll head outside (weather permitting) and continue our Relay tryouts.

Period 5 Music with Mrs. Haynes.

Period 6 we'll listen to the first nations story 'Honouring the Buffalo' and do the work from yesterday.

Tuesday April 23rd

 Here is the plan for today:

Period 1 - Mrs. Haynes needed to switch things around, so they'll have music period 1.

Period 2 -we're going to look a little closer at our paragraphs from last week and look at some EQAO examples.

Period 3 and 4 is math.  We'll continue on with our EQAO them by looking at the EQAO practice tests and we'll do some prodigy.  I've selected EQAO Prep for math prodigy. It should help to prepare the students for the type of questions they may encounter.

Period 6 if it's nice we'll go outside and practice for the relay again.

Monday April 22nd

 Here is the plan for today:

Period 1 -red light, read aloud, weekend round up, reader's/writer's workshop

Period 2 -we went outside for the first of our relay practice/try outs.

Period 3 and 4 is math-we'll look at clockwise and counter clockwise rotations (1/4, 1/2 and 3/4 turns).

Period 5 is French with Mrs. Coffin.

Period 6 we'll head back outside for our earth day clean up. 

Friday April 19th

 Here is plan for today:

Period 1 and 2 is red light, read aloud, reader's/writer's workshop.  I'm hoping the class will be able to type out their paragraphs from yesterday and maybe play a little English Prodigy.

Period 3 is math.  We'll do some co-ordinate geometry work.

Period 4 is gym with Mr. D.

Period 5 and 6 is Art.  I'm hoping to do some cool art work using our names in written in cursive.
